فى قبلــــة فى الصحــــــراء، نعمل على إيجاد البيئة المحفـزة للأفراد المبدعين، ونسعـــى لخلق الدعـــم عن طـــريق إيصـــــال المواهـــــب بالمنتجين، الموزعين، المهرجــــانات، والجمــــهور
نحن نصب جل جهدنا على المشـــاريع المقدمـــة تبعًا لمتطــلباتها؛ فنعمـــل على تيســـير الطريــــــق للمتقدمين فيما يخــــــص التمويل، والدعـــم التقنى لإنتاج أعمالهم الســـينمائية، عن طريق الإرشــــــاد، تقديم الاستشـــارة، توفير المعامـــل، العلاقـــات، والإنتاج المشــترك
Our Mission
A Kiss in the Desert is a platform
for films and moving image projects.
By offering creative individuals and collectives an inspiring environment in which they can produce and develop their projects, we aim to bring about, through the cinematic experience, a support network based on enduring connections between artists, talents, producers, distributors, festivals, and the various audiences.
We work on a project-based system, where each proposal is followed according to its own characteristics. The planning and strategies are there to offer solutions to the scarcity of funding and technical resources available for young filmmakers, while enhancing the potential of their creative talents and ability to carry out a cinematic project through guidance, mentorship, team consultations, labs, contacts, and co-production partnerships.
قصــــتنا
فى سـنة ١٩٢٤، وصل الإسكندرية الأخوان التشـيليان فلسـطينيا الأصل إبراهيم وبيدرو —بدر— لاما، فى طريقهم لبيت لحـــم، وطاب لهما المقـام فقررا الاســـتقرار في المدينة. كان الأخـــوان مولعين بالسينما، فقررا تأسيس شركة إنتاجهم الخاصة. معًا أنتجا، ألفا، وأخرجا الفيلم المصرى الأول، قبلة فى الصحراء، فى ١٩٢٧. انتقدت الصحـافة آنئذ الفيلم معلقة:
”الصورة الوحيدة المصـريّة في الفيلم كانت صــورة الأهرامــات وأبو الهـول“.
وعلى الرغم، فقد فتح الأخــوان الباب على مصــراعيه لأجيال قادمة من صناع السينما، عن طريق إتاحة المجال لتجارب الإنتاج السينمائى فى الإســكندرية
بعد حوالى قرن من وصــول الأخوين للإسكندرية، قررنا أن نبدأ مجموعة لدعم جيل جديد من المواهب فى المشهد السينمائى المستقل فى مصر. بوحى من قصة الأخوين لامــا، أسسنا قبلة فى الصحراء. مرجعياتنا المختلطــة أوحت لنا بأن نعيد اســتكشاف اللغة الســــينمائية، والنماذج الإنتاجية بطـــرق جديدة سعيًا نحو رعاية رعيـل جديد من الأصوات والأعمال المثيرة للاهتمام

Our Story
In 1924, two Chileans of Palestinian origin, Ibrahim and Pedro “Badr” Lama, stopped in Alexandria on their way to Bethlehem, where they decided to stay. Being fascinated by the cinema, they founded their own production company in the city. The Lama brothers produced, wrote, and directed the first Egyptian feature film, A Kiss in the Desert, and several other titles. The press would criticize their first movie by saying that “the only image that feels Egyptian is that of the Pyramids and the Sphinx.” Nevertheless, and despite the initial foreignness of these young Latin Americans of Arab origin, they opened a gate for generations to come by establishing a space for film production and cinematic experimentation in Alexandria.
Nearly a century after the two Chileans arrived in Alexandria, a group of filmmakers decided to create a collective to support a new generation of talents in the Egyptian cinematic independent scene. Inspired by the story of the Lama brothers, we established A Kiss in the Desert. Our hybrid backgrounds led us to explore the cinematic language and production models in diverse ways, aiming to foster new voices and works with a critical bias that are aesthetically intriguing.

صممت ورشة وش وضهر لتحفيز صناعة السينما الإبداعية، وتشجيع جيل جديد من الفنانين البصــــريين المقيمين في مصـــر. تســـــتقبل النســـخة الأولى للورشــــة المصــممة من قِبَل قبلــة في الصحــراء، تســــتقبل حتى ١٤ مشــروعًا قائمًا على أشــــكال اكتشـــــاف الذات من خـــلال الأفلام. فى الورشــــة سيطـــور المشاركين مشـــاريعهم عن طريق مشـاركة العملية الإبداعيـــة لمرحــــلة مـا قبل الإنتاج مع صناع الأفــــلام المشــــــتركين فى الورشــــــة وبمعاونة فريقنا. مع نهاية الورشــــــة، ستكـــــون المشــــــاريع المشــاركة ملفًا كاملًا - دوسيه (الملف المســتخدم للتقديم للمنح الإنتاجيــة) وسـيتم اختيار مشـروعين لدعم إنتاجي من قبلة فى الصحـراء

Vice Versa
The Vice Versa workshop was designed to stimulate creative filmmaking and encourage a new generation of visual artists in Egypt. Developed by the collective A Kiss in the Desert, and supported by Mophradat, this first edition welcomes up to 14 projects focusing on different modes of self-exploration and autobiography through moving-image and film formats. During the workshop, the participants will develop their projects by sharing the creative process of pre-production with the other filmmakers and under the guidance of our consultants. By the end of the workshop, each project will have a complete dossier (commonly used to apply for film funds and grants), and two projects will be selected to be produced with the support of A Kiss in the Desert...Read more!
مهرجان القاهرة السينمائى، مسابقة الأفلام القصيرة
مرة أخرى، تسعى قبلة فى الصحراء نحو تعاونات تهدف لخلق تجارب سينمائية طليعية. هذه المرة مع مهرجان القاهرة السينمائى الدولى. أقيمت نسخة مهرجان القاهرة السينمائى الدولى الـ٤٣ فى الفترة من ٢٦ نوفمبر، وحتى ٥ ديسمبر ٢٠٢١. آخذين أهمية مهرجان القاهرة السينمائى الدولى فى الاعتبار، قررت قبلة فى الصحراء، لجنة اختيار مسابقة الأفلام القصيرة، أن تختار لبرنامج للمسابقة الأفلام الحصرية على المستوى العالمى، سواءًا كانت أفلامًا لم تعرض من قبل، أو أفلامًا عرضت فقط فى بلدها الأم. بهذه الخطوة، اتفقنا على الرفع من شأن المسابقة، وجعلها حدثًا متميزًا فى العالم السينمائى، لا منصة لعرض ما سبق عرضه فى مهرجانات أخرى

CIFF Short Film Competition
Once again, A Kiss in the Desert seeks collaborations to promote a relevant, yet provocative cinematic experience. This time with Cairo International Film Festival. The 43rd edition of the Cairo International Film Festival took place from the 26th of November to the 5th of December 2021. Given the historical importance of Cairo International Film Festival, A Kiss in the Desert, as the selection committee, has decided to narrow down the selection criteria by only considering the titles holding a world/international premiere status. By taking this direction, we agreed to make our program a unique event in the audiovisual world rather than functioning as a satellite of other major film festivals...

مقامات هو برنامج أفلام قصيرة شهرى من قبلة فى الصحراء، بالتعاون مع زاوية؛ سينما الأفلام المستقلة الرائدة فى القاهرة. استوحينا اسم البرنامج من المقامات وهى شكل أدبى قديم يتميز بقِصَر المدة، وتواتر نفس الشخصيات فى أزمنة وأماكن مختلفة، فى أسلوب يشبه الفيلم القصير
