يحملنا فيلم «بيانو الجدار» إلى حلم يقظة فتاة تعيش فى ظل الجدار العازل. بين الواقعية السحرية والموسيقى، يحيل فيلم «بيانو الجدار» حائط العزل إلى كائن حىّ يعيش ويتفاعل مع الأطفال المقيمين بقرب حاجز قلنديا الذي نصبه الاحتلال بعد الانتفاضة الثانية ليفصل القدس عن رام الله. جاء وحى فيلم «بيانو الجدار» من بطلته ندى، وهى فتاة فى الثانية عشرة من عمرها تعيش، رفقة الأطفال/الممثلون فى الفيلم، فى قلنديا

يحتل فيلم «العملية: جين ووك» العالم الرقمي لما بعد انهيار البشرية والمأخوذ من لعبة التصويب الجماعية لتوم كلانسى. أعيد استخدام ساحة الحرب فى اللعبة بالاستعانة ببعض المواد الفنية لتتحول من لعبة حربية إلى جولة سياحية سلمية حول مدينة نيو يورك. يحاول الجوالة تجنب إطلاق النار بينما يجوبون شوارع افتراضية طبق الأصل من مانهاتن، نيو يورك. فى أثناء الجولة تدور حوارات حول أسئلة العمارة، التاريخ، المخيلة الحضرية والتدخلات التى قام بها مطورو اللعبة لتغيير النسيج العمرانى
Maqamāt is a monthly short film programme, curated by A Kiss in the Desert in collaboration with Zawya; the leading art house cinema in Cairo. The programme is inspired by the Maqamāt, a concise literary format, with recurring characters adapting different roles, in a manner very much like that of a short film.
The short films curated each month share a theme, and are screened with English/Arabic subtitles; aiming to expand the short films viewership in Egypt. The programme was screened on March 7th, 2023, at the Arab Digital Expression Foundation (ADEF), and on March 18th, 2023, at Zaywa Arthouse Cinema.

1. Letters from Your Far-off Country, Suneil Sanzgiri, U.S., 17’
Shot with 16mm film stock that expired in 2002—the same year as the state-sponsored anti-Muslim genocide in Gujarat—and filmed amid the anti-CAA protests in Delhi, the filmmaker traces lines and lineages of poetry, history, songs, and ruins through a multitude of digital interventions, found footage, and more.
2. The_____World, Peixuan Ouyang, U.S/China, 17’
A personal essay about connection and disconnection, in and through different realities.
3. Wall Piano, Asma Ghanem, Christopher Marianetti, & Alexia Webster, Palestine, 3’
‘Wall Piano’ takes us into a daydream of a young girl who lives under the shadow of a separation wall. Part music video, part magic realism, ‘Wall Piano’ shows a wall as something other than an immovable barrier for a group of children living near the Qalandia checkpoint in Ramallah, Palestine, a frontline of the West Bank conflict.
4. Kenopsia, Mohamed Omar, Egypt, 8’
A man drives back to the now abandoned city of Cairo. Longing for his home, he takes us on a journey through the film’s protagonist; the dying city of Cairo. The scars of the old city pieces together what happened in this far but not so fictional future.
5. Operation Jane Walk, Leonhard Müllner & Robin Klengel, Áustria, 16’
Operation Jane Walk is based on the dystopian multiplayer shooter Tom Clancy’s: The Division. The game’s digital war zone is appropriated with the help of an artistic operation: Within the rules of the game’s software, the militaristic environment is being re-used for a pacifistic city tour. The urban strollers avoid the combats whenever possible and become peaceful tourists of a digital world, which is a detailed replica of Midtown Manhattan. While walking through the post-apocalyptic city, issues such as architecture history, urbanism and the game developer’s interventions into the urban fabric are being discussed.
