“El-Dunia Cinema” is a porous, welcoming cinematic experience that can be entered and exited at any moment. The Experience’s namesake is “Sandu’ el-Dunia”, a mutoscopio that was used in popular public performances that spread across Egypt during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Rather than isolating cinema from its surroundings, the project embraces the park’s ambient sounds, movements, and interruptions as integral to the viewing experience, allowing the films to remain in dialogue with everyday public life.

Each event will consist of a looping program rather than a fixed linear screening, enabling viewers to arrive at any point, stay for a few minutes or longer, and encounter the films without the pressure of a defined beginning or end.
